Re-usable Item Credit

Recycling is an energy-intensive process which is more about waste reduction than energy saving. We’re offering you food buying credit in exchange for your returned re-usables, to encourage the use of re-usable over recyclable food packaging options.

See below our list of items that we’re accepting as returns and how much credit you get added to your Food Wallet per item returned.

• Olive Oil Bottles (1 liter) – R9 each
• Macadamia Oil bottles (500ml) – R8 each
• Cardboard Boxes (re-usable) – R8 each
• Pasta Sauce Jars (500ml) – R7 each
• Honey Jars – R6 each
• Pasta/Chillie Sauce Jars (375ml) – R5 each
• Egg boxes (dozen, re-usable) – R3 each
• Lettuce bag, re-usable – R2 each
  

Compostable Item Ledger

We still need to work out the reward system for compostable items, but we are collecting the following items in the meantime to work into our compost. We keep a record of the compostable items you return and will offer rewards once we are able to calculate the return gained.

Organic Waste We are collecting any kitchen and organic waste that we receive in a sealed container. Please provide your own. We will wash and return with your next delivery. We do not take delivery of any meat items at this point, but dairy, egg-shells and all other organic kitchen material is most welcome. Contact us for storage and home composting advice.

Soiled cardboard If you have a dirty/ugly egg box or cardboard box, we can also compost that after all packaging tape has been removed
